Living and working at camp is never dull. The last two weeks had me running an event on my own, bringing lunch to friends who were roofing and trying not to catch the nasty flu/cold that is taking out even the most hearty amongst us!
Another IAWAH Event
Last weekend I organized and ran my first IAWAH event. It was called 'toque, eh!' and was for junior and senior high school youth groups. It was chaotic, tiring, fast, energizing and full of fun. We hosted a full dining hall at 120 people and had only a handful of beds unoccupied. All in all it went well and there was so much learning for me. Hopefully there was as much learning for the youth who were listening to the speaker. This weekend we are hosting another IAWAH event, Winter Family Camp, and next weekend.......IAWAH Goes To The Rideau Canal. See the poster below. My work life is busy and March feels like it's already started. February is almost booked solid for us and is really already over in my head.

Laura, the Camping Co-ordinator, will arrive back next week. She has been spending some time in Australia, working at camps and travelling around. This means that my role will change again slightly as she takes back some of her responsibilities. It will be great to have her back, as I miss her smile and spending time with her.
Monday in Westport
Monday was roofing day!! Rose has been granted a Habitat house in Newboro, ON and many staff went to help put the shingles on. I took over lunch, which the crew appreciated. It was a great day full of sun and blue skies! Here are pictures from our adventure in construction.
After a day of hard work, well, for some, I headed to Lindsey and Laura's house for our weekly evening of fun! This week we had ribs, potatoes, vegetarian sushi and cake! We potluck so it gets creative sometimes!
We always have fun Mondays and we are starting to plan meals a week in advance! I am looking forward to fondue, on the menu soon!
Disease and Pestilence
On to the disease and pestilence............The last two weeks the area has been hit with the nastiest of flu/colds and people are sick everywhere. We are having to fill last minute holes in staffing for this weekend, as a few of the staff we had lined up, have contracted the pestilence. I have been healthy now, for about 2 weeks now and I am determined not to contract the newest bout. So please keep us in your prayers, as germs get passed around this place pretty easily and when we host large events everyone gets a little run down! For now I am drinking lots of green tea, eating spicy food (ginger and garlic) and trying to get as much sleep as possible.
