A busy Week turns into a busy Month!

March has come in a like a lamb, here on Wolfe Lake. Cold, but clear with no snow blowing around or much lying on the ground actually. We are enjoying the high pressure system sitting over us making travelling by car less problematic.

This last weekend we had 3 groups on site at once, Athletes in Action, a church youth group and the Rug Hookers. The Rug Hookers are a wonderful bunch of ladies who are crafty and loved having a place where they could just work on their projects without the normal interruptions of everyday life. We regularly get these kinds of groups in (scrapbookers, quilters and now rug hookers)!

My Mom, Dad, Lindsey and I went on a studio tour last fall and saw Loretta Moore's studio/home, who booked the weekend with us. She does workshops and sells prepackaged projects and lives about a five minute paddle down the shore from us. It was great to host these lively ladies and to see their creativity come through wool. Rug hooking can be blocky or intricate, it all depends on you. I was thinking it was Latch Hooking when I first heard about it, but it is much, much nicer and doesn't use tufts of wool. It is lengths of felted wool, cut in strips to the size you want. Then it is pulled through burlap with a hook. It is amazing what these ladies can do! I am in awe and if I wasn't so busy already, I would take a class and start a new craft. Lindsey took a class this last fall and has made some beautiful pieces.

So here is a link to my album honouring those crafty ladies! They also made Father Christmas dolls out of wool. I hope you enjoy seeing what you can do or purchase finished that becomes a piece of art in your home!

My March adventures started yesterday with a road trip as Lindsey, Laura and I drove Joseph to the airport in Syracuse. Joseph flew to Kansas City to IHOP (the International House of Prayer). He signed up for a worship workshop and will be staying with my sister Pam's family!

We had way too much fun in this HUGE mall and spent too much money, but came home with some good deals and smiles on our faces.

A little game for you:

We had decided to try on skinny jeans, which are the new version of jeans that were cool in the 80's. Just picture these with a Guns 'n' Roses baggy t-shirt and you get the idea. We tried some on and your task is to decide who belongs to which legs!

It was a good reminder as to why fashion had changed in the 90's (it felt like we were wearing long-johns that were too tight). Too bad some of those crazy fashions are coming back!

I feel like March is already half over because I am not scheduled to work on-site or in the office from now until March 12th. That is half the month gone! The way my schedule has worked out, between time owed (those retreats are busy), regular days off and a workshop I am attending for professional development, I will be off-site or off completely. It is nice to have the break, and I am really excited about going to Project Adventure (www.pa.org), although I am a little nervous that I will come back to find my days overloaded.

I am hoping to to have an internet connection down near Boston when I go to Project Adventure, but if not I will post upon my return.

Pray for good weather March 5th and March 12th when I am driving my little car, Oscar, there and back!

  1. In the picture of the girls it's L-R Lindsay, Laura and Kara. (I don't know which is which of Lindsay and Laura cuz i've never met them) but the far right is definitely Kara. The bottom picture is Joseph.

If you didn't buy those jeans, Kara, you should've cuz they look nice on you. And I know how much you LOVE shopping for jeans!
