Spring Staff Training is in full swing. They started last week with some High Ropes/Climbing Wall, WHIMS training and Archery! Today we moved quickly through Nature Hikes, Pond Study and Shelter Building (which was actually tearing down shelters left over from fall). This morning we went through a Team Challenge program and had many laughs along the way. We played a new 52 pick-up game, where you have to do what the card says before picking up another. Fun all around. Then moved into some tag variations and the Lycra tube (we all leaned out and stayed upright)!! From there we went to the TP Shuffle (a log) and they had move to the correct spots without touching the ground (some in the world's largest underpants)!! So that was our day! We caught a Skink (the only Ontarian lizard) but I should have let Laura Lee take the pictures, I didn't get a very good one. But I will post what I got.
Later in the week, we are going through more Team Challenge (low ropesish) and will get to Orienteering and Canoeing too! For those of you who don't know, my youngest sister, Laura Lee is out here working with us for 4 months. She has been really enthusiastic about it all, well, until we asked her to poke at beetles and leeches today. Then she watched more than poked. But she is doing really well and is actually a better climber than I am.........she doesn't seem to mind the height of the high ropes course. So we are having fun together and she will be better equipped to NOT be able to explain my job, even though in her head she will know what I do. It's just so varied that a title doesn't encompass it and I do all sorts of little things......different every day!
Enjoy the pictures and I will try to find some of us in the trees!

Wow, Laura Lee, way to wear your underpants with pride! And you make a lovely dishwasher too! It's nice to see you smiling like that! I love you and wish I was there with you...
ReplyDeleteKara, why aren't you wearing the undergarments? I see Joseph got in on some games too. Tell him i miss him!
